The Miramax CEO reels his way into a Sunset Strip compound with views of jetliners

Bill Block, a veteran Hollywood producer, has purchased a Spanish-style gem in the steep hills above L.A.'s Sunset Strip. The home was on and off the market since earlier this year, once for as much as $9 million, before it was sold at a substantial discount of $2.4 million to the Miramax CEO.
Film and television director Joseph McGinty Nichol, professionally known as McG, purchased the property from boutique hotelier Brad Korzen in October 2008 for $5.8 million. In addition to the celebrity decorator's signature design elements, Korzen's wife Kelly Wearstler accessorized the property during his tenure.
The striking brick and terracotta-roofed structure is hidden behind walls and gates at the end of a secluded dead-end street on over a quarter-acre parcel of land with picturesque views of the ocean and city lights. This two-story residence, built in 1933 and extensively renovated since then, features three bedrooms and four bathrooms infused throughout 3,235 square feet of "highly character-infused" living space incorporating period details and modern conveniences. There is a living room and kitchen in a one-bedroom, one-bathroom guesthouse with a private entrance.
An entry foyer with dark hardwood floors and a windowed brick accent wall opens into a grassy courtyard with a fountain and a swimming pool enclosed by a sundeck. The living room features a fireplace and wall of wood-trimmed windows overlooking the eye-catching views and rests beneath a vaulted wood-beam ceiling. An expansive galley-style kitchen with stainless appliances and cabinetry is equipped with a breakfast area and leads out to a patio.
A family/media room, spacious upstairs master suite, and wet room with soaking tub and shower also feature. A spa-inspired master bath includes dual vanities and a wet room with soaking tub. The grounds also include a spa, a few fire-pits, and a wealth of brick verandas perfect for lounging and entertaining al fresco. Front of the house is a garage with two parking spaces.
