A few luxury charter companies are as renowned as Rascal Voyages, so join Rich Report on its edge-of-the-earth journeys around some of the most remote parts of Indonesia with some of the most exciting luxury charter companies in the world.

Finding a place where you can have the entire planet to yourself has become a rarity, let alone the Coral Triangle, which is home to a wild abundance of natural beauty.

“One of the requests we receive most often is to go to areas where the guests won’t see any other boats, or to stay on a beach on an uninhabited island in the middle of nowhere,” explains Sharifah Khadijah, head of sales and reservations at Rascal Voyages, which arranges expeditions around remotest Indonesia on a 98-foot Phinisi-style yacht crafted from teak and ironwood.

Rascal, founded in 2017, raised the sun-sea-and-sand bar with its innovative take on Indonesian sailboat tradition by British-based founder Steve Ebsworth. Sailing itself was the first thing to go, as sails take up a lot of deck space and are rarely hoisted anymore.

In this repositioning, all five cabins with warm wood and white interiors and tasteful Indigenous art and handwoven fabrics are situated above deck, including a large main suite with wraparound windows. In addition to sunning, the roof deck serves as a breezy spot for sundowners and canapés, or a place to gaze at the Milky Way under a perfectly clear sky while watching the equatorial sun descend.

Staff were hired as much for their friendliness as for their discretion and professionalism as a reflection of Ebsworth's thoughtfulness. Aman's chefs were recruited, and experiences were designed to encourage authentic connections with the environment, as well as to be fun. Rascal Voyages set itself apart from the competition as the most original, stylish and enjoyable yacht charter in Indonesia by implementing this formula.

Having achieved success with its first boat, the company has now introduced a second boat, the Rebel. In addition to Komodo and the Ring of Fire, the Spice Islands, and Raja Ampat can all be explored on this 101-foot cruiser.

The latter boasts more than 1,500 islands, cays, and atolls, where guests can dive or snorkel with a variety of fascinating species, including blue-ringed octopuses, pygmy seahorses, and manta rays. (The yacht carries scuba gear and a certified divemaster.) Lunch might be delivered to your own sleek beach club, where only bottlenose dolphins, green sea turtles, and, for the very lucky, Bryde's whales pass through.

Guests will never experience the same tour twice, as each is designed specifically to meet their tastes and moods. Do you wake up early? Look for flamboyant birds such as the red bird of paradise, Blyth's hornbill, or the superb fruit dove in the morning. Would you rather dance with the sand between your toes? A candlelit dining room table will be set up on a deserted island with a lobster barbecue, fine wines, and a guitar serenade played by the attentive, amicable crew.

A new product launch next year, Rogue, will take the company into Malaysian and Thai waters for the first time, with a journey from Langkawi to the hard-to-reach Tarutao National Marine Park and finally to Phuket that is sure to be equally inspiring. “We’re planning a few surprises along the way,” explains Khadijah. From a Rascal, you wouldn't expect anything less.

Rascal Voyages' newly launched Rebel Yacht has a price starting at $28,475 per person based on 7 nights aboard and a round-trip First Class flight from New York.  Private transfers, meals (excluding alcohol), private guides and endless activities are included in the price. The price is based on 10 people traveling.
