For autonomous aircraft, VERTIPORT will integrate Eve Air Mobility's UATM software with Skyway Technologies' navigation services. Eve signed an agreement on October 12 to provide urban air mobility solutions to support eVTOL operators, including its four-passenger aircraft that it plans to introduce to the market by 2026. The goal is for Eve's UATM platform to be used by all new eVTOL aircraft, including its four-passenger model.

With its hybrid artificial intelligence technology, Skyways resolves airspace conflicts, separates autonomous aircraft, and maintains airspace compliance. A large number of vertiports will be used by eVTOL aircraft in the future because it is planning to support a large number of drone operators from its own air traffic management center.

“Eve will benefit from the collaboration with Skyway as a software provider to UAM providers and help us and others improve and advance UAM operations,” said Eve's co-CEO Andre Stein.

Full integration of UATM with vertiport services, according to Skyway CEO Clifford Cruz, will be a reassuring element for operators looking to fly large fleets of eVTOL aircraft for air taxi services. “With this approach, airlines can close the loop when it comes to operating these aircraft at the digitally driven vertiports that are being built,” he said.

As part of a two-week operational trial conducted with its partner Blade Air Mobility, Eve and BAM simulated how eVTOL aircraft will land at vertiports and other landing sites in the Chicago area using helicopters. During last year's eVTOL aircraft operations concept development efforts in Rio de Janeiro, similar work was conducted.
