Blended scotch made from the world's most rare whiskies.

Among the whiskies in Johnnie Walker's Ghost and Rare series, this fifth release features whiskies from shuttered "ghost" distilleries. The NFT tie-in is also available via Blockbar, with 75 limited-edition sets including a real bottle, a digital bottle, and access to some virtual experiences, just as there seems to be with almost every high-end whiskey release these days.

This is not a virtual whiskey, but a real, physical, non-virtual whiskey that you can actually pour into a glass and taste instead of an artificial intelligence cyborg version. Three key ingredients in this new release come from distilleries that are no longer in existence, selected by master blender Emma Walker from Diageo's copious reserves.

A grain whiskey from Port Dundas, once one of Scotland's largest distilleries, serves as the backbone of the whiskey. In 2010, it closed its doors and was demolished. Walker said in a statement that Port Dundas was, in its day, one of the world's finest grain whiskey distilleries, and the rare expressions it produced in the past are some of its most distinctive. Slow maturation allows their sweet and delicate grain character to blossom.

As part of this Johnnie Walker blend, there are also two ghost whiskeys distilled at the Brora and Cambus distilleries. It shut down in the early '90s as a grain whiskey distillery, while the latter, which closed in 1983, reopened last year and is now making whisky again. Besides Cameronbridge, Glenkinchie, Clynelish, Dailuaine, and Auchroisk, the blend also includes whiskeys from less well-known distilleries: Glenkinchie, Clynelish, Dailuaine and Auchroisk. First-fill heavily charred oak casks and second-fill American oak casks each contributed flavors ranging from creamy vanilla to oaky spice to the whiskies.

A limited-edition set of virtual whiskey will include virtual artwork by AI artist Ivona Tau, based on elements from nature and water, for those interested in virtual whiskey. According to the release, the series of 75 NFTs represents the contrast between the constant flow of water and the tamed water contained within Ghost and Rare Port Dundas. In addition, Blockbar will offer them for $775 starting at 10 am EMT on Friday, September 9. If you are interested in something more fungible, you may wish to visit your local upscale liquor store later this month.
