Pop-Up Shop Brings Fine Jewelry and Watches from Van Cleef & Arpels

Watches and pendants from the Alhambra will all be on display.
It's coming to the West Coast with Van Cleef & Arpels' fairy tale. From May 3rd through May 16th, the jeweler will transform 1,000 square feet of Costa Mesa's Jewel Court. Installments will display the brand's latest collections, including the Pont des Amoureux Lover's Bridge watch collection and the Alhambra necklace collection.

According to insiders and outsiders, the company has not been affected by the outbreak. Its Alhambra collection, in particular, is becoming increasingly popular with clients seeking a piece of the elite jeweler's DNA. For a prelaunch of the new lineup of secret watch Alhambra pendant necklaces, fans of the style can get a sneak peek at the new pieces, which range in price from $18,600 to $45,400. The new designs include versions with diamond-set dials and 18-karat gold sunray dials, as well as turquoise and lapis lazuli dials with mother-of-pearl dials. In limited quantities, these pieces will only be sold at the pop-up and in boutiques, but they will be available online beginning May 3rd.

The Pont des Amoureux watches from Van Cleef start at $123,000 and combine serious watchmaking expertise with romance, poetry, and luxurious materials. With its initial release in 2010, the collection depicts two lovers moving to kiss on a bridge, but its latest iterations, which debuted in 2019, unite them in a longer embrace. In addition to being able to be brought together for a 10-second smooch at any time of the day, they can also return to their original position whenever they want.
Sculpted in gold, the duo embraces for three minutes at midnight and noon before the woman returns to her place at the beginning of a jumping retrograde hour scale, while the man retreats to the beginning of the retrograde minutes. By returning the indications to the correct time, the movement accounts for the three-minute kiss. South Coast Plaza offers all the versions of the watch in 18-karat white gold and rose gold with or without pavé diamonds. The watch is the only one with kissing automatons in the world.

A delicate garden surrounds four rooms that explore different themes to set the stage for its tiny mechanical marvels. The first two rooms will focus on the watches with a backdrop of Paris at night and at day. Similarly, the third room features Van Cleef's fairy and ballerina themes, while a fourth room honors the Poetic Astronomy collection with a star-studded sky.

You won't be able to get your hands on Van Cleef's most coveted jewels unless you make your way to Paris right now, so now is your chance to get them in a setting as close to Paris as possible. Starting May 3rd, the installation will be displayed at 3333 Bristol Street from 12pm to 5pm and from 11am to 6pm on weekends. Tours of the space require reservations in advance.
