One of the highlights of the event was Philippe Dufour's Simplicity 20th Anniversary Watch, which cost $1.5 million.

During Phillips Retrospective: 2000-2020, most items exceeded their high estimate for most of the watches sold, in which the sale totaled $15,056,626, proving that modern masterpieces are as collectible as the usual vintage favorites, showing that timepieces of the modern era are as valuable as timepieces of the past.

It is widely believed that Philippe Dufour, an independent watchmaker widely regarded as the greatest master of modern watchmaking, was the greatest master of modern watchmaking. The original Simplicity was made in 2000 and was limited to approximately 200 pieces. The watch auctioned in this sale is the first in a new series that will celebrate the model’s 20th anniversary in 2020. It is known that Dufour's watches are crafted by hand and have a perfect finish.

The master of modern watchmaking is Philippe Dufour, but the rock star is F.P. Journe. This auction featured six examples from the master, including the Sonnerie Souveraine minute repeater with grande and petite sonnerie, which fetched $767,172, a handsome price for a stainless steel watch. Although Journe's Sonnerie uses steel cases and movements, the sound of the gongs is enhanced by its steel case. Since its introduction in 2006, fewer than four of the watches have been made per year. The watch's movement holds ten patents.

Aside from Richard Mille, Greubel Forsey, Kari Voutilainen and MB&F, the sale also featured pieces by other watch manufacturers, including Richard Mille, Greubel Forsey, Kari Voutilainen, and MB&F, whose creations are on the collector’s bucket list. However, Patek Philippe dominated all of the auctions, regardless of the era. The sale featured 18 watches, the highlight of which was a pink gold minute repeater/world timer with cloisonné enamel dial, which was sold for $1,324,106 as a lot.

As part of the auction, two other Patek Philippe minute repeaters were sold among the top five: a platinum minute repeater with an enamel dial, a perpetual calendar, a tourbillon and a perpetual calendar with an enamel dial sold for $658,052; and a platinum minute repeater with a perpetual calendar and a tourbillon with a day-and-night display, which sold for $630,050. In light of the presence of so many modern Patek Philippe watches in the sale, it is evident that modern pieces, not just rare vintage favorites such as the 1518 or 2499, are also appreciated by their value and value.

In the auction, five watches were offered made by Richard Mille, one of the most successful independent watchmakers of the last 20 years, whose pieces regularly sell for six figures or more. A top lot at the auction, which sold for $595,047, was the RM 038 Bubba Watson, which was named after the famous golfer who is renowned for his long-driving ability to ensure shock resistance on the course. With its scratch-resistant magnesium case and ceramic crystalline oxide coating, it is a tourbillon watch with a stunning appearance. The watch is number 11 out of a limited edition of 38 pieces, and comes with a golf bag as an added bonus.

As a result of Phillips' $28,002,004 Geneva Watch Auction XII on Saturday, and the Retrospective auction on Sunday, the combined auction total was just over $43 million, resulting in a total of just over $43 million. In addition to the auctions Phillips in Association with Bacs & Russo held earlier in the year, Phillips in Association with Bacs & Russo has achieved its highest-ever auction total in Geneva: $76.7 million. For a world filled with Covid lockdowns and political uncertainty, it is pretty impressive.
