Despite widespread publicity, a highly idiosyncratic Beverly Hills Flats compound has sold in an all-cash deal for a whopping $2.2 million over its original listing price, barely 30 days after it first appeared on the market. Its Zen-like backyard boasts a floating tea room and unique interiors. Multiple offers flooded in for this stunning home. Ultimately, Los Angeles-based jewelry designer Anita Ko won the bidding war for the one-of-a-kind property, paying $15.2 million.

Known for her bespoke creations adorning famous clients, such as Hailey Bieber, Michelle Obama, Charlize Theron and Scarlett Johansson, the Los Angeles native and award-winning face behind her own eponymous fine jewelry brand. She will be living in what is known as a Japanese Minka house, or the house of the people, which was built in traditional Japanese style.

In addition to adorning celebrities such as Hailey Bieber, Michelle Obama, Charlize Theron, and Scarlett Johansson with her bespoke creations, the Los Angeles native is thest Hollywood’s celeb-studded Sierra Towers skyscraper in the 1960s. With six bedrooms and seven baths in

nearly 7,500 square feet of living space, the house boasts rich hardwood floors, exposed wood-beam ceilings and vintage fixtures, as well as modern amenities like an alarm system.

There are also picturesque views of the flat and rectangular parcel of land from almost every room, which has a large freeform pool and meandering stone walkways, an al fresco dining area surrounded by a pond, and a detached tea room with Shoji screens. Also included is a lush entry courtyard with mature trees and a koi pond, as well as a spacious motorcourt and four-car garage.

There is also an orange-hued double front door that leads to a wide entrance corridor with an atrium in the center, as well as an elegant living room with a fireplace on a suspended mantle. Below the formal dining room is a wine cellar and tasting room, and there is a wood-clad kitchen with a center island, stainless steel appliances and a breakfast nook, as well as a family room with Capiz globe pendants, a wet bar and a cozy fireplace.

There are six ensuite bedrooms in the north wing, including a spacious master retreat with gold-foiled wallpaper, sliding glass doors leading out to a serene garden, a walk-in closet and a sunken tub in the bathroom. To top it off, an oversized den features a wet bar and a narrow staircase covered in golden-hued carpet.

Furthermore, the house is located on what is often considered one of the most desirable blocks on one of the most desirable streets in the Flats - adjacent to an even larger estate owned by Fan Kao, the wife of Garmin billionaire Min Kao.
