'Galactica' makes its maiden voyage

It is a pleasure to welcome the new owner of the 262-foot yacht.
Galactica, the 262-foot boat formerly known as Project Cosmos, has sailed through Dutch canals and rivers after being constructed at Heesen's shed in Oss.
When Heesen's team maneuvered the yacht through locks and under bridges, the clearance was sometimes only 6 inches on either side. The team had to wait for a calm day without wind for the maneuvers. Riverbanks and bridges were often crowded with spectators. Several applauded.
Using canals and rivers has been a common strategy for the yard for the past 40 years, according to a press release. When dealing with inland cruising on luxury yachts of this size, this is standard procedure.
