For Coronavirus Relief, this Rare Resence Watch will be auctioned off for the benefit of the designer's sons

More than 400 submissions were received for the colorful timepiece design.
A beautiful timepiece, manufactured by Swiss watchmaker Ressence, will be auctioned by Sotheby's on October 19th with proceeds going to aid relief efforts for Covid-19.
This watch is inspired by the winning design of the #WatchAgainstCovid19 competition that both brands jointly ran in April. The Type 1 Slim “Ayrton & Finlay” was unveiled on Monday. As part of Sotheby's Hong Kong ‘Important Watches’ auction, Rayramsden of England will auction off the winning model, which was designed by Raymond Ramsden and named after his two children, which will benefit the Covid-19 Research Programme at KU Leuven University.

In the form of a reinterpretation of the Type 1 Slim model made by Ressence, this watch has a polished titanium case and a dial that displays the many complications the brand is known for. And its bold color scheme isn’t just meant to be visually appealing. By choosing specific hues to represent human values and to honor the dedication of key workers during the Coronavirus pandemic, Ramsden's design celebrates human values and pays tribute to them.
As an example, blue symbolizes the medical staff and others who assisted society in coping with the pandemic, while red symbolizes the importance of human contact and the need to wash one's hands in order to prevent the spread of the disease. Our shared plant is represented by the blue subdial, while our solar system is represented by the bright yellow sun at its center.
Four66 submissions were received over a period of three weeks between April 28th and May 12th, and this final design, tweaked only slightly for production purposes, was selected. When bidding begins on July 11th, it is expected to fetch between $20,000 and $40,000.
