There is an improvement in movement and comfort with the new Monacos.

When it comes to updating the classic Monaco chronograph, TAG Heuer has taken inspiration from the past when updating its new product.

There has been no metal bracelet on the Monaco for almost two decades, but the design here is reminiscent of similar bracelets used on the model in the early 1970s, when the bracelet was first introduced. As a result of the design team's search through the brand's archives, this inspiration point was uncovered, and it has been tweaked to give the watch a more modern look and increase comfort by tapering its wrap around the wrist in order to offer improved comfort.

The bracelet is particularly important for any wristwatch, and without a good bracelet, the timepiece is less desirable, according to Catherine Eberlé-Devaux, TAG Heuer's heritage director. A familiar design and color have emphasized the collection's vibrant past while reinforcing the fact that it is moving forward with innovative new technology when creating the new Monaco timepieces. As part of the new edition, two dials are included, a black dial with a sunray-brushed appearance and a lustrous blue dial. The latter is adorned with a red, white, and blue colour scheme that is similar to the design of the original Monaco that was released in 1969. With a square case of 39mm and a square counter at 3 and 9 o'clock, the Caliber Heuer 02 provides 80 hours of power reserve for each version and can be seen through the sapphire glass back. With a butterfly clasp that is engraved with the logo of TAG Heuer, stainless steel bracelets incorporate horizontal bars linked by smaller horizontal links.

During the year last year, the Monaco celebrated its 50th anniversary, marking a significant milestone for the model. A series of special-edition releases by TAG Heuer commemorated this occasion, and they proved so successful that the brand continued to experiment with the collection as a collector favorite. It has improved inner mechanics with greater power and a bolder look in the 2020 iterations––of which these two stainless steel bracelets are a part of.

At a price of $6,750, you can purchase the Monaco Automatic Chronograph from TAG Heuer.
