A brand new six-ship fleet will be launched on July 17 by Explora Journeys with the first vessel in its fleet, the Explora I, featuring 461 of these upscale cabins.

The high seas are going to feel a lot more like home soon. With the launch of the new Homes at Sea, Geneva-based Explora Journeys will offer a choice of Ocean Penthouses and Ocean Residences aboard the Explora I, a new cruise line based in Geneva.

The Homes at Sea will be available on Explora I's maiden voyage from Southampton, England, starting in July of 2023.

“Our Homes at Sea have been designed with an immense amount of thought and attention to detail," Jason Gelineau, Explora's head of product, says. “From the floor-to-ceiling windows to maximize natural light and the views and connection with the ocean, to sweeping terraces to elevate every guest’s space, comfort, and privacy, I love how they are luxurious but intimate.”

As part of the Explora I, the first of six ships in the company's luxury fleet, the cruise company - which operates under the MSC Group - will offer 461 ocean-front Homes at Sea.

The entry-level Ocean Suites from Explora were introduced last year, but these two new cabin classes raise the bar even further by creating the feeling of an extravagant home - on the water.

Featuring floor-to-ceiling windows facing the ocean, as well as large private terraces, the Ocean Penthouses range in size from 463 square feet up to 732 square feet.

The private dining area with seating for four, all four cabin types within this class have a spacious seating area, a walk-in closet, and a vanity seated in the cabin.

Aside from the Dyson hair dryers and heated bathroom floors, there are also wireless bedside charging stations, personal curated minibars, espresso machines and access to 24-hour guest services that are available throughout the hotel.

The four Ocean Residence cabins are among the most spacious cabins at sea, according to Rich Report, ranging in size from 753 square feet to 1,604 square feet. In addition, all of them come with panoramic oceanfront terraces, private whirlpools, dining tables, and lounge chairs, as well as separate living, dining, and sleeping spaces.

There are wraparound terraces in the Cocoon and Serenity Residences, while the Serenity and Retreat Residences come with separate tubs and walk-in showers and butler service 24 hours a day.

The Swiss company collaborated with high-end Italian furniture designers, Molteni&C, to design the cabins with the finest furnishings. “Our European DNA has been fused with Molteni&C and we have been able to emphasize our core values – tradition, quality, durability, and reliability – which are all important to us,” said Gelineau.

The in-room amenities are also complemented by a number of chic brands. The outdoor furniture is from Manutti, the bedding and bath linens in each suite are from Frette, and the lighting in the Ocean Residences is from Astep.

In addition to the Technogym equipment that is installed in every unit at Gelineau, there is also the Technogym Kit available in the Penthouses, along with the Technogym Bench available in the Residences.

“Our vision behind Explora Journeys is to create a new luxury method of ocean travel and to reach an Ocean State of Mind — the connection with ourselves, the sea, and other like-minded guests,” Gelineau explained. “The design and thought behind [the Homes at Sea] enhance the space and privacy, elevate the connection with the surrounding ocean and destinations, and in turn, reach this mindset which can only be reached when at sea and on board our ships.”
