Discover What It's Like To Stay In Europe's Most Expensive Hotel Rooms

The cost of a night in one of Europe's most luxurious accommodations can be as high as a downpayment.
Spending one night in one of the most expensive hotels in Europe is the equivalent of spending the same amount on a down payment for a house, a college education, or perhaps an extravagant vacation for a week. The journey to Europe on a budget is certainly doable with hostels, grocery stores, and other travel hacks. But what does it look like from the opposite end of the spectrum? These properties, located in some of the continent's most desirable destinations, cost upwards of $20,000 a night.
In the following list of the five most expensive hotel rooms in Europe, Rich Report takes you inside massive suites overlooking Lake Geneva and historic properties on the French Riviera.

Hotel Martinez (Cannes, France)
One of the most fascinating histories of any hotel along the Côte d'Azur can be found at the Hotel Martinez in Cannes, which is now part of Hyatt's Unbound Collection. Located in an opulent Art Deco building overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, the luxury accommodations were built in 1929. When designing the hotel's interiors, Pierre-Yves Rochon channeled the yachting spirit, which encompasses 410 suites. Thierry Frémaux, the General Delegate of the Cannes Film Festival, and French actress Isabelle Huppert share the two penthouse apartments on the 7th floor.
A total of 13,454 square feet of space is dedicated to the rooms, which have 180-degree views of the bay of Cannes. In spite of the fact that some may consider the views priceless, hotels in this prestigious area charge between $16,000 and $54,000 per night for these prestigious rooms.

Corinthia London (London)
A London-based design firm called G.A. Design created Corinthia London's opulent Royal Penthouse suite. A duplex penthouse spanning 5,000 square feet includes 13 different rooms. Perhaps the most luxurious feature of the room is its 700-square-foot terrace, which offers 180-degree views of the Big Smoke in addition to a marble-clad entrance hall and wine cellar. You will need to pay over $27,000 for a night's stay at the accommodations.

The Hotel Majestic Barriere (Cannes, France)
Like the penthouse suites at the aforementioned Hotel Martinez, the Majestic Suite offers panoramic views of the Bay of Cannes from its 1,600-square-foot patio, which features a 36-foot heated swimming pool. A private movie theater (especially handy if you're here for the eponymous film festival), a gym, and a butler complete the suite's aquatic offerings. According to Rich Report, a night will cost you about $33,000.

Four Seasons Bosphorus (Istanbul)
The Four Seasons Bosphorus Istanbul is housed inside a historic palace, so it's no wonder the rooms aren't cheap. In addition to hosting a personal hammam, the Atik Pasha Suite occupies most of the hotel's second floor. According to reports, the windows are bulletproof and provide a view of the Bosphorus, which separates the European and Asian sections of Turkey. A night in the luxurious suite costs just under $33,000 per night.

The Hotel President Wilson, a Luxury Collection Hotel (Geneva)
Until the Empathy Suite at Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas unseated the Royal Penthouse Suite at the Hotel President Wilson as the world's most expensive hotel room, the Royal Penthouse Suite at the Hotel President Wilson was the most expensive in Europe. A little over $80,000 a night, the stunning room overlooks Lake Geneva and is furnished with contemporary elegance. Bulletproof windows are reported to protect whoever is inside the suite, which is common among high-profile guests. With 18,000 square feet and 12 bedrooms, it's also Europe's largest and most expensive house.
