Channing Tatum Buys a Midcentury Farmhouse in Brentwood

While Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum still own their former marriage home, a $6 million estate in the mountains above Beverly Hills that has been undergoing renovations for years, they have both separated from one another. Tatum has acquired a secluded property deep within Brentwood’s bucolic Mandeville Canyon for $5.6 million after securing a $4.7 million mansion earlier this year.

When Tatum purchased the 3,300-square-foot house, it wasn’t on the market because it was hidden behind tall gates and taller foliage. According to rental listings, the “Magic Mike” star now lives in an authentic farmhouse – not one of those uber-popular “modern farmhouse” confections, but a real, true, unpretentious farmhouse that’s as close to an actual farmhouse as you can get in urban Los Angeles.In this two-story structure, built circa 1950, you’ll find a boatload of exposed, unvarnished hardwood hewn almost entirely from stone and wood. Among the amenities is a double-height entryway with pressure-washed red brick flooring; the kitchen has rough-finished cabinets and some utilitarian, decidedly non-designer light fixtures, and it is open and island-free.There’s also a huge fireplace in the wood-wrapped family room, a brick-and-stone behemoth that appears to be original to the house, and a mint green-colored full bathroom. The upper level of this home features a skylit master bedroom with a private balcony, as well as a skylit bathroom with a soaking tub. The homeowner and guests are ferried up to the loft-like upper floor by a wooden staircase.

Despite its proximity to Los Angeles, the nearly one-acre estate feels wonderfully secluded. Sunlight filters through an ancient canopy of sycamore trees, and meandering paths cross the property, from a lagoon-style swimming pool to a secluded sports court. There’s another bedroom on the estate in a tiny guesthouse, so there’s three altogether.
