Indianapolis' historic racetrack is depicted on the watch's dial.

It is expected that the 104th running of the Indianapolis 500, also known as "The Greatest Spectacle in Racing," will take place at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on August 23rd, under conditions only slightly altered by the pandemic. There will be only 50 percent capacity available at the race due to the fact that it will take place three months after its original schedule of May 24.

A special edition timepiece will be introduced by Tag Heuer, the official timekeeper of the NTT Indycar Series for the last 16 years. The timepiece will honor the occasion in a way that will not disappoint the fans. With a dial that is certain to make Indy fans swoon, the Formula 1 Indy 500 2020 Special Edition chronograph is a quartz-powered model.

Featuring a brick motif on its face, the watch is a tribute to "The Brickyard," a historic racetrack nicknamed after 3.2 million ten-pound bricks were used to resurface its original rock and tar surface in 1909. There is still a 36-inch strip of the original bricks at the start and finish line that is the only part of the track that is exposed to asphalt. Almost to this day, winning drivers still kneel down at the start/finish line to kiss the bricks.

Featuring a 43mm steel and sandblasted case with a durable black rubber strap, this timepiece is packaged in a 43mm black DLC steel case. A permanent second indicator is situated at three o'clock, while an hour chronograph counter and a 1/10th second chronograph counter bearing an Indy 500 logo are located at six o'clock. Three azurage-patterned subdials complete this watch's sporty appearance. Additionally, there is a minute chronograph counter at nine o'clock, along with a date window at four o'clock, and a minute chronograph counter at nine o'clock.

Due to the fact that it is part of TAG Heuer's Formula 1 collection, the Formula 1 Indy 500 2020 Special Edition is called so. As a result of its long-running relationship with motor sport, the long-running line of watches was introduced in 1987, which is a testament to the brand's enduring connection to motor racing, including ties to the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, the TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team, the Aston Martin Red Bull Racing Formula One team, the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix, the World Endurance Championships, the Porsche TAG Heuer Esports Supercup, and racing legends Steve McQueen and Ayrton Senna, who both sat the race.
