As far as steel and aluminum yachts that are under 500 gross tons go, this 180-footer is the world's longest yacht.

Among the world's biggest yachts under 500 gross tons is the 180-foot Al Waab II, built by Alia Yachts in Turkey.

In a press release, Alia President Gökhan Selik stated that while yachts are getting longer and wider, owners still want to keep their gross tonnage below 500. Being the first with such a remarkable project is an important milestone for Alia, as there has been an increasing interest in this kind of yacht.

An Antalya Free Zone investment into yacht-building infrastructure resulted in the first superyacht to launch from a 2,000-ton lift. A new hangar has also been built in the region to serve as a construction and refit facility for superyachts.

It took about two years to build Al Waab II, including delays due to Covid-19. Additionally, there are other staterooms for 12 passengers on the upper deck, including a split-level master bedroom.

A representative from SF Yachts in Dubai handled this project on behalf of the owner.

Where does Al Waab II go from here? A world debut is scheduled for September following completion of sea trials and delivery to the owner.
