A New Skeletonized Automatic Movement from Panerai is Unveiled in a New Collaboration with Brabus

Submersible S Brabus Black Ops Edition, the duo's first collaborative timepiece, debuted at Monaco Yacht Show.
Brabus, the German aftermarket tuner, and Italian watchmaker Panerai team up for new nautical watches.
A collaboration between the duo and Brabus was unveiled at the Monaco Yacht Show on Wednesday, the Submersible S Brabus Black Ops Edition. Their new partnership is expected to produce more exclusive marine products in the future. The Shadow Black Ops series of dayboats was the inspiration for the watch. The watch features Brabus' signature colors of gunmetal gray, black, and red, and its 47 mm case is constructed from Panerai's Carbotech composite material.
Three years were spent developing Panerai's first ever skeletonized automatic movement. A patented polarized date window is one of its features, which lets you view the current date inside the aperture without seeing the rest of the date wheel.
With a high-density tungsten motor-rotor and two mainspring barrels, Panerai's P.4001/s movement offers up to 72 hours of battery life in the Submersible S Brabus Black Ops Edition. Through the sapphire crystal caseback, you can see the striking Super-LumiNova-filled indicator. Furthermore, you can easily synchronize the time by using the hacking seconds feature with the seconds reset function.

The unidirectional rotating bezel is useful for diving timing, and it's water-resistant to 300 meters. All Panerai Submersibles feature a small seconds display, however the Brabus Black Ops Edition adds an AM/PM indicator to that display, and it's one of only two pieces with GMT functionality. Moreover, the timepiece is equipped with a Glucydur balance, which helps stabilize the movement in a wide range of temperatures, and a KIF Parechoc anti-shock device, which protects it from hard impacts.

It's a limited edition of 100 examples for $55,000 each if you're interested in sporting the Submersible S Brabus Black Ops Edition on land or at sea. For more information, please visit Panerai.com.
