An infinity pool on the property’s rooftop is made of 24-karat gold, setting the gold standard for hotels.
A gold-plated hotel opened its doors in Vietnam’s capital city on July 2 as Dolce by Wyndham Hanoi Golden Lake, the world’s first gold-plated hotel.
It has 24-karat gold tiled infinity pool on the rooftop, along with gold-plated tubs, sinks, and even toilets, according to Reuters.
Located near Giang Vo Lake, the 441-room hotel stands out against the surrounding Soviet-era buildings that dominate the nearby area.
“At the moment, there is no other hotel like this in the world,” said Hoa Binh Group chairman Nguyen Huu Duong in July.
According to Duong, the hotel was decorated with about a ton of gold.
A nightly rate of about $250 is comparable to other luxury hotels in the area without any gold embellishments.
There are even gold-colored cups next to the coffee maker in the hotel’s rooms and models were painted in gold for an event at the hotel.
In addition to planning two more gold-themed properties in Ho Chi Minh City and central Vietnam, Duong, a Vietnam War veteran and former cycling taxi driver, also said he plans two more in Ho Chi Minh City.
Atlantis, The Palm in Dubai with gold bath amenities and La Mansión, the Four Seasons in Buenos Aires with gold-trimmed wood paneling, are some of the hotels with 24-karat gold touches. The Villa Casa Casuarina (formerly Villa by Barton G) has a gold-lined Thousand Mosaic Pool in Miami Beach.
